Clad in oxidizing Corten steel, the new addition reinterprets the traditional hipped roof form with a modern twist, creating a bold contrast against the original tile-clad building. The rusted patina of the steel complements both the historic structure and the surrounding landscape, while the light-filled, open-plan interior features bespoke oak joinery and subtle industrial accents.
Sustainability was central to the design, incorporating a timber frame, Rockwool insulation to passive standards, airtight membranes, and pollinator-friendly landscaping — enhancing both energy efficiency and ecological value.
