Hideaway (The Glade)
The planning restrictions meant that the building had to follow the footprint of the single storey youth hostel it was replacing. Our clients brief to their architect was to ensure the building sat neatly and quietly amongst the glade setting.
The design was a simple oak clad exterior with glass doors leading to the secluded tree lined garden. The interior is kept simple and modern with a large open plan family area in the centre with wings leading off to either side where the bedrooms are. This design enables a balance of a busy, social core alongside areas of privacy and peace and quiet.

Wealdon Project
Our client came to Rexstone with their plans ready and finished looking for a builder who could manage the project and be confident that the major structural work and extension would be carried out in a professional way and to a very high standard.
The construction included a complex steel cube which was lowered through the existing house and extension requiring the full use of our extensive knowledge and experience. The impressive sliding and folding door system that allows the flexible inside and outside space to be opened up or closed down as required. These were constructed by Rexstone to the required specifications using solid oak.
We were delighted to have been invited to help in the design of a hardwood floating deck which we feel helps to frame the house so it sits beautifully in its grounds.
We are immensely proud that this property was selected to go onto the Wealden Council’s ‘cool’ wall for style as an example of what they would like to see in the East Sussex rural countryside. A selection of councillors were taken to the property by Wealden to be shown the quality and style of the build.
We were invited back as our clients decided to add space and rearrange their kitchen area. The kitchen was substantially enlarged and glass sliding doors added to the entirety of the back of the house resulting in a stunning contemporary living and entertaining area.
